Internal power only. The main power is sufficient to support dual vega 64. However, you can't use the dual 6pin power from PCB. Detail is here: Ultimate Mac Pro 5,1 Mod for Triple Titan X.

In that thread, Post no.4, 6th photo shows the +12V and GND soldered 2leads to my dual vega 64 cards' power source through the EVGA PowerLink.

The xbox power enclosure is not necessary to run only these two cards.

34283 is my top score in OSX, 36450 in Win10 on the Mac Pro with some minor tweaks. Top score in the charts is 54471 on Windows for a Vega64. No idea what cpu, chipset or even Windows version used though...

Oh, that could break the bios that we just flashed onto for fan behavior. Right? Then I might just skip. Right now the fan is quiet. 0 db while browsing web pages.

AFAIK, this is actually one of the method to fix the fan issue. But yes, it can also break the fan profile.

Anyway, IMO, if you have time, worth to try and learn this technique. Just make sure you know how to revert / restore the kext. Then nothing to worry about.

One main benefit is this technique can undervolt the card, make it run even quieter / cooler. So, even no plan to OC, may still worth to have a look. Especially for dual GPU config.

Thanks, I think I overlooked almost a year for that thread until a bios provided for quiet fan behavior recently.
