Just got my Mac Pro 5,1 tonight! Dual 3.33, 12 core 128 g RAM 500 SSD.

I was doing some installations (Pro Tool, iLok, and a Lexicon IO82 driver etc,). I went to the can, came back and it’d shut down. Won’t power up again.
Checked the power cable, connection etc. but, nothing.

Last install was the Lexicon driver (3.11 I believe). PT and iLok software had been installed for awhile (2 hours?) prior to the shutdown.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Also do the THREE CONSECUTIVE "Happy mac " CHIMES" NVRAM re-set = shut down & remove the power cord for ONE minute.

Then start whilst holding down the keys in the picture below until you hear the CHIME THREE TIMES .. . then release the keys.
fixes a lot of cMP problems

Just got home and tried to do another SMC and noticed that the dreaded red light is on where the PSU is.
Does that mean I’m screwed?

Hi,

Did you ever get this resolved? I assume from your post above that you actually meant CPU, not PSU? Can't say I recall having ever come across a red light near the PSU, but there are two on the CPU tray of your cMP, one for each CPU to indicate a fault condition, and also 8 for the DIMM slots. On the backplane, you will also have diagnostic LEDs to indicate various conditions.

Cheers Glenn
