Hi Everyone,

I have a super frustrating issue going on with my Mac Pro 5,1 2010.

Recently I have installed GC Titan Ridge Thunderbolt Card on my Mac Pro 5,1 2010.
I flashed it added SSDT to Opencore.

Source : https://github.com/ameyrupji/thunderbolt-macpro-5-1/blob/master/GC-TitanRidge.md

Mac Pro boots properly without connected any device to thunderbolt port.
The moment I turn on my Audio interface Mac Pro restarts and then starts with kernel panic shown as below and then restarts once more time. after that only my audio interface gets connected. this whole process eats almost 10-15 mins,

dose anyone know how to get rid of this issue?

any help will be appreciated.
Thank you ion advance.
:)

My config :
Opencore 6.7
Big Sur 11.1
Xeon 5690 Dual processor.
128GB RAM
500GB SSD
Radeon Pro WX5100
Gigabyte Titan Ridge Thunderbolt 3 card
Focusrite Clarett 8 PreX Audio interface.

I have exactly the same issue. Did you ever find out what was the cause?

Hi,

Same here too.
Just bought a flashed Titan-Ridge T3 card, and when connecting my UAD Apollo, it restarts
Running High Sierra on a cMP dual Xeon 5,1

Cheers

It seems to be a cold boot issue "Thunderbolt is NOTORIOUS for bad initialization at boot. Restarting is pretty much the only solution coming from a cold boot." It seems thunderbolt is not always recognized on a cold boot, but sometimes only on reboot. I have a hard drive that is acting up the same way. it takes a restart to get it to be recognized as Thunderbolt 3.0 drive as apposed to USB 3.1. I cloned my system and was able to reboot into Mac OS off it. But on a cold boot it doesn't show up. It seems like the Mac Pro detects an issue then reboots and reboots again with the DAW interface. Any current news on this issue?

Looks like I'm about a year late to this party. Hopefully, you folks are still watching this thread. I don't particularly think I have a solution but will confirm that initially, I had the same issue where the Titan Ridge would restart automatically when I would power cycle my Apollo x8; and only then would the Apollo connect after restart. However, my Liquid Saffire 56 (Focusrite) connects fine with Mojave and Big Sur.

The only difference being my Saffire does not produce sound on Big Sur. It connects as it should; it's recognized in the Audio Settings in Preferences but WILL NOT give me sound. Again it works beautifully on Mojave but no sound on Big Sur. I can't get my Apollo to produce sound either. If either of you has a solution please let me know. I'd love to be using the most updated OS but I am stuck with the choice of remaining on Mojave.

My other issue is with install. Although I'm on Big Sur, it did not come without pain. I can never get through a full install without having to restart the computer. Yes, that's right, reboot after getting that shameful message saying "support.apple.com/mac/startup". Every time, no matter what setting or wishes I might say, it never runs through a full installation without crashing and me having to reboot at least 2-3 times. Everything works perfectly except the audio interfaces on Big Sur.

Something else to throw in there; whenever I restart Big Sur it doesn't boot back into Big Sur. What I mean is, I get the Apple logo and it sits there for a few moments with the progress bar just stuck and I end up finally having to hard reboot; or sometimes the support message shows up with the circle and line... if you know what I mean. Been trying to get this installation pinned down for a month now. Anyway, I really hope someone throws some magic my way. Please feel free to ask any questions.

Try cold booting without the interface plugged in, then plug it in with the computer still on, power it up, and reboot. Do you have the Titan ridge in slot 4? I don’t have a thunderbolt audio interface so can’t test it. But this method works for hard drives for me.

I do have the Titan Ridge in Slot 4. I'm going to give that a try and perhaps try installing Monterey again. Big Sur seems weird. I was on it all day from 9am - 3pm doing a virtual training course and had no issues (with the exception of the issues stated above). For some reason, it restarted after I walked away for a while (2-3 hrs.) and would sit in this sleep state and I couldn't get it to wake up after pressing the keyboard or mouse. If I could get my audio working I'll leave stuff alone for a while.

Best to not sleep ever, put screens to sleep but not the computer, sounds like your saying it went to sleep on its own though which is strange I leave mine on all day no issues but I on,y use usb c hub with mine no thunderbolt devices.

I came in here to say I'm having similar problems. Maybe someone has resolved this since last summer?
