MP 1,1-5,1 Mac Pro 5,1 - Titan Ridge Thunderbolt Questions

Hi,

I have a Mac Pro 5,1 with a Titan Ridge 2.0. Trying to get Thunderbolt to work but I'm new to this. Can anyone help with a step by step?

Here's what I have and know:

Mac Pro 5,1 running Catalina. 32Gb Ram, RX580 Graphics and a Titan Ridge 2.0.

- The TR has a jumper between pins 3 and 5.
- The TR is installed in slot 4
- It TR is alive. USB 3.0 works fine and shows up in system report.
- Thunderbolt in System Report shows no drivers installed.

What I do NOT know:

- Is flashing the card absolutely necessary? I don't have the flash tool but found a link on Amazon.
- I read something about possibly running it in Windows first but Bootcamp says it will not run on my Mac.
- I'm confused about OpenCore. Where to begin? What version. How is this installed?
- What is it that actually gets Thunderbolt recognized? Flashing? OpenCore? Both?

Flashing your Titan Ridge Card is what gets it recognized in macOS. Additionally using an SSDT (injected through OpenCore) enables proper hot-plug and wake-from-sleep functionality. You can learn about OpenCore and how to create a custom SSDT here.

Depending on your Thunderbolt devices, booting first into Windows may be an initially easier option; however, this option is cumbersome in the long run and functionality may be more limited than with a flashed card.

I recently acquired an OWC 11-port TB4 dock. I can't get the Gigabyte Titanridge 2 Thunderbolt card to pick up the dock as checked in the System Info. The card is working fine. It picks up the powered Toshiba TB3 dock I have and any devices that are hung off that. Running the latest version of Sonoma on OCLP 2.2.0. Nothing urgent but I like things to work.

I am using a flashed-for-Mac Gigabyte Titanridge 2 Thunderbolt 3 PCIe card.I used Open Core nut recently switched to OCLP because I spent too much time on minutiae updating OC for my current simple needs.

Have a MP 2010 5,1 with Sapphire Plus RX580, Mojave. Used OCLP to install Mojave. Wish to use a single 6k60hz monitor. Asus 32PAQCV on the list.
Can the RX580 support this? (Each of 2xDP support 5120×2880@60Hz
Will a Mac flashed Titan Ridge 2.0 with 2xDP feeds from RX580 support a single 6k?

Idea is to use a M4 Mini along with MP5,1 and switch between depending on requirement, both using a single 6k monitor
