Good evening all, I have been working on getting my Mac Pro 4.1 functioning with an XFX AMD RX580 and think I have to throw in the towel with this graphics card.

I have updated to Catalina on the standard graphics card and got the system to boot. I put the XFX in its place and the monitor picks up no signal.

I then added the standard graphics card in a separate PCIe slot to verify booting.

I can see the XFX on the system report, as seen in the attached file.

Any final suggestions before I admit defeat?

Callum

Device id 6fdf -> RX580 2048SP -> official oc RX570 rebranded, so search TPU for a suitable RX570 vbios file, then flash it.

What did you upgrade from to Catalina?
Is your firmware updated?

Over on a hackintosh website that I followed to build a z390 hack then specifically mentions the XFX RX580 as one to avoid due to issues

NOTE 4: The XFX Radeon RX 580 graphics card is known to cause kernel panics during installation and uses non-reference port layout so HDMI and one DP port may not work. Use of this card is discouraged.

I picked up a sapphire pulse rx580 instead, so probably going to be a pain to get the card as don’t see that the issues would be any different on a Mac Pro compared to a hack.
