I remember when Monterey was first released, people noted it was crashy on the Mac Pro 6,1. Now that its been out for some time longer, is there any consensus on it?

I don't **have** to upgrade now, but I'm getting pushed to it because I need to soon move to the latest Xcode.

Are people now successfully and happily running Monterey on the 6,1 or better to stick with Big Sur?

Thanks!

Seems to be fixed with the latest firmware update (430.120.6.0.0) included in Big Sur 11.6.6 as well as in Monterey 12.4

Only positive feedback so far.

12.4 works really great with the latest firmware for me. Best macOS release yet IMO.
Thats awesome news, do you guys know if I can upgrade straight to 12.4 from Big Sur using an aftermarket drive, or do I have to do some kind of drive swap back to the OEM drive first as people suggested with past versions?

I had to re-install the factory SSD, upgrade it to Monterey, then put the bigger SSD back in and update it. The factory SSD has to be there to get the firmware update done. It’s been smooth since then.

Thanks, sounds like for some we need to put back the factory SSD and others we dont

I'll sleep on it, then pray and then take the plunge ?

^Thank You for the report/opinion. That's really good to hear about Montery as of now.

Now with the recent and long awaited for bootROM repair from Apple to our 6,1s, I'm now waiting all my softwares to behave with Monterey, and I'll have a Mac to use for a year or maybe a couple of years even ?.

I really didn't convert myself that well to a windows user, at least not just yet.
