I purchased the 3-year AppleCare+ when I purchased my Mac Pro 7,1 around New Years 2020. I figured for $11k or whatever I spent, I wanted to make sure early failures in the first few years were covered and I didn't have an expensive lemon.

The plan has now expired and I'm trying to decide whether or not to renew.

Have you original owners continued to re-up the AppleCare+ plan? If not, why not? If so, why?

Even after the terms and conditions I'm still a bit confused about what's actually covered - will they replace failed storage, ram, I/O card, cpu, etc.? (for the deductible fee)

Also, when you go to see the Terms and Conditions there's about 8 different ones to click depending on when the plan is from - if you renew is it the original terms renewed or does it become the newest terms?

I renewed. It's tough to tell how unobtanium this thing might be. Probably wasting money, but the year to year was not terrible.

As for what is covered, I did not look into it. I assume stuff that was original with the machine is all that is covered.

Mine expires in about 40 days, I'm going to continue with it because even though it survived without issues the past 3 years, it still can fail in the future.

But curious to see what others have to say.

When mine has to be renewed I’ll do that.

I only got mine last year however.

Bought mine a year ago. Got Applecare+ because yes.

It covers the hardware as shipped (presumably plus any Apple-sanctioned upgrades). And there was no question about buying it on a machine this expensive to cover the base hardware (board, CPU, PSU, main SSD) because those things are A) Hella expensive, and B) in the case of the board and PSU, unobtainable outside of AppleCare.

Bought 3 year, will probably renew at least one more year when that ends, possibly two, until the server shuffles off its workstation coil and becomes a closet server.
