For regular 4k, 6k, and 8k footage how much does the AfterBurner on the Mac Pro help with your video editing and overall workflow? What Graphics cards do you recommend if we want to actually work with 8K? On the PC side in RED is there any accelerator card that is like the AfterBurner that is recommended if you are working with Red Footage?

Thank you we will look into the RED ROCKET X card. From my understanding it was discontinued, hopefully this will not affect performance. Would AfterBurner work with Redcode raw footage if we work in Final Cut or DaVinci Resolve? Thanks!

Your ORIGINAL question was about a specific RED product like an Afterburner for RED footage, that is the RED ROCKET. It's been discontinued and not worth buying. RED is clear that this has been discontinued. RED has moved everything to METAL based GPU workflows on macOS moving forward.

DECEMBER 12, 2019:

"RED and Apple have finally completed METAL GPU accelerated R3D support in the SDK which will be rolling out to 3rd party developers over the next 24 hours, as well as integrated into the next major FCP release."
