Mac Pro and wireless Adaptors

I recently posted an article on this forum to see if anyone could recommend a cheaper alternative to an Airport Card for my Mac Pro. The vibe I got was that I shouldn't bother and just get an Airport card becuase they are the best - no one came up with a specific alternative. So, I've just gone to the Apple online store to buy one and have discovered that it is not possible to install an Airport card yourself! You have to go to a service center and as I don't have a car that is impossible. So, once again, does anyone know of a specific alternative to the Airport card for the Mac Pro? There must be people out there in the same situation? All help is much appreiciated.....

I would check out http://www.macwireless.com if you are dead set on checking out alternatives.I didn't have a airport g option for my powerbook and decided on what macwirelss offered

I use a D-LINK DWL-G122 with my Mac Pro. I had several random kernel panics with her driver used in conjunction with EyeTV and a Terratec USB adapter, but i reistalled both card's softwares and now everything is ok.

I've tried also an Asus card that is claimed to have a greater compatibility with macs, but it keeps disconnecting every hour or half an hour.

I used the ralink drivers for booth cards, updated on the 28th of August.
