Just got back from the apple store tonight and they had the Mac Pro bluetooth adapter for $25. I got it and intalled in in like 30 seconds. Snaps right in on the motherboard where it says bluetooth and has 2 screws to hold it down included. Piece of cake. Bluetooth working great. They said the airport extreme adapter would be in soon and was going to cost $50.

Don't you have to connect it to an antenna wire as well? I've got the chip but I can't find the wire. Were you able to find it?

When I went and talked to the "geniuses" they said they would not sell it to me without having it installed there. Lucky for me, none of the people at the register knew that. The "geniuses" also didn't even know that they had them in stock, had never installed them before, and were all teenagers. It worries me a bit having to drag my Mac Pro over there to pay $30 just have some punk kid learning on my machine. I wish I could find out a way to do this on my own.

The install is really simple if you can find the antenna wire so I wouldn't worry too much about the warrenty issues.

There is a guide floating around out there with pics on installing the bluetooth adapter.

ITS WRONG!

He says to hook up the number #2 antennae to the adapter but if you look up in there an antennae labeled "BT" is there. Thats the one that goes on the adapter. Its quit easy.

I found out something today that I thought was interesting. I have a netgear usb 2.0 wifi card. It looks like a thumbdrive. Anyway its made by realtek and they have OSX drivers for the chip. Soooo it should work with a mac. I haven't tried it yet but it looks good.
