mac pro BTO ->just about to order

before i place my order,
where can i buy the extra 2 x 512mb of memory cheaper than apples price? i am in the uk.

I'm in exactly the same boat as you and have the exact same config ordered (except apple mad a mistake and sent me the wrong config, so I have to wait for it to be delivered and then send it back... muppets)

But in the meantime was looking order more ram like you....

So i looked at Crucial who have them but for me it works out more expensive than apple.
For example (i'm in Ireland) :

Apple: Mac Pro 1gb (2x512mb) €275 (edu price) but free shipping

Crucial: Mac Pro 1gb (2x512mb) €272 + Shipping = €288

So Apple would be better place to buy it. However for 2gb Apple charge a lot more €625 compared to crucial €470

Apart from the display, that's the exact same order as mine!
I'd be very interested to hear from you how long it takes you to receive it from order to delivery, as I'm now on week 5, and it's only just been dispatched 2 days ago!

i ordered it on the 13th.
it says to be shipped by the 18th,and delivered on or before the 20th.

i will let you know if it does arrive on the stated dates.
