I'm contemplating getting the 27" cinema today and I have my mac pro with the ati 4870 that has a mini display port
So i take it, that it will be an easy connect to the monitor. Also, my mpro is on the floor near the desk and will the cord be long enough for the monitor?

I notice that the cinema display has a isight and mic. Do I need to connect the usb part of the cable of the display to the mac pro at the back for it to work.

Thanks

Also, I'm getting the refurb one from apple store so crossing fingers. Unless anyone has objections to getting that monitor.
:)

it will hook right up you will need to hook up both the usb and the mini display to get all functions. I would order an extension as it may be just 6" too short depending on your exact set up. Id rather pay the 10 bucks for the extension and not need it. I need it with mine though.

The cord is not going to be long enough to comfortably reach the floor.

I bought a mini-displayport extension cord from monoprice (as well as a usb extension) and it works great.

... and yes, you need to plug the USB into your tower for the iSight/mic to work.
