I received my 2tb upgrade kit for my 2019 Mac Pro earlier today. So I shut down my mac, removed the 1tb modules, installed the 2tb modules and attempted to power up the Mac. No lights whatsoever, no signs of life.

So I removed the 2tb kit and put the original 1tb kit back and tried to power it on and nothing, no light or even amber lights. Now I'm confused.

Took out AMD Vega II and put back in my 580x and still nothing. Also tried to reseat the power supply mpx and nothing. Even tried a different power cable and another power outlet, nothing. It acts as if its not even plugged in and it is.

Chat with Apple support a few minutes ago and they pretty much concluded that I need to bring it in to the nearest Apple repair center and its 110 miles away.... Is there anything else I can try before I make this 110 mile trip?

The power switch and USB in the lid connect via pogo pins. I'd make sure that there is nothing interfering with that set of connections as it would prevent powering up.

That was actually the first thing I looked at, even cleaned the contacts with a q tip and alcohol.

It won't start, by design. You have to do the steps to put it into DFU and revive it with Apple Configurator. That is part of replacing the modules anyway, only the T2 will be 'booted' in this state

This is actually what I did, doesn't work. Tried the revive mode and it just will not power on at all.

Did it complete successfully? Give it a second run through?

Replacing the SSD blades will cause T2 to stop working, so you'll need to reinstall T2's operating system through Configurator back onto the blades to get it working again. That's the most likely issue.

I should reiterate, I was never able to get into DFU whatsoever. I just took it to an Apple Authorized Repair center this morning and they weren't able to get it running as well after I told them what I did. Turns out, the USB-C port that's required to get DFU running isn't working, its a dead port. I don't ever recall using that USB-C port ever so I never knew if it worked or not heh.

So thankfully, the Mac is fine, just the dead USB-C port is preventing me from running DFU and therefore the whole Mac is useless until that port gets replaced.

What I find interesting is that if you don't run DFU after removing SSD, the Mac will act like it is getting no power whatsoever. The amber lights don't even flicker.
