1. Yes, decently, about as well as a smartly-specced $1500 Windows box.

2. Nobody knows for sure, but almost certainly not.

is there such things as thunderbolt video cards for external gaming GPU's ?

The d700s are equivalent to the gtx680 so go for the d700 and base config if you really want to game on it!

That's good to know... I will wait for next years model and to see what they have in the pipeline for monitors etc... but I am def getting a Mac Pro next year

Next year won't see a nmp release most likely. Haswell E will happen sometime in 2015 maybe even in the 2H of 2015. So your going to be in for a long wait.
