No... the October keynote was usually for iPad (with a new Mac or 2 thrown in)... but seeing as how the iPad Pro was introduced at the iPhone event, I doubt there will be an October event...This keynote was all about iOS. Isn't there another one in October and which it will probably be on Macs only?
It's not sure.Well the Xeon roadmap seems to be for 2016/2017 so I assume Apple won't update anything. I was hoping they'd at least update the graphics cards and drop the price a bit.
Wait for the next rMBP update, that should be telling about the future of the nMP. Why? Intel have released mobile Xeon. Yes it's a marketing trick as it's really an i7, but it does have the ability to use 64GB RAM. Lenovo have already said they are producing a workstation class laptop based on mobile Xeon, expect Dell and HP to follow. If Apple have any desire to stay relevant in the pro market they will release a xeon based laptop too just to compete with these products in the pro graphics market. If they don't they have abandoned this market and I would then put money on the Mac Pro been quietly forgotten.
Xeon is usually about 2 years behind in terms of getting updates from Intel architectures in their desktop class CPUs. So Apple will never really use Xeon procs in their mobile devices. They barely went Intel in 2006.

that product is nothing like a MBP.

those are thick, substantially heavier ( 7.6 and 5.6 respectively ) laptops. It is extremely unlikely that Apple is going to chase those. If notice they have 'workstation' GPUs in them "Nvidia Quadro graphics". Again Apple is highly unlikely chasing that class of part for inclusion into a laptop ( high margin for Nvidia, and not so much for Apple).
Relevancy as in offering all things to all people? Apple will (and has historically in 2nd Jobs era ) pass.
These laptops are a small corner case of the folks who doing commercial work with laptops.
Horse huey. If Apple doesn't do a laptop then the Mac Pro is doomed? Seriously?
Apple doesn't and won't have deep traction in the "I want to buy a very wide variety of computers from just one company" folks. They aren't loosing ground by not getting those customers but they largely never had them.
The Mac Pro is not on a yearly update schedule. It may not even be every 2 years. Apple won't tell the cycle in advance but it is clearly not 1 at this point. It is probably closer to every 2 years with a +/- Quarter (3 month) error bar and will just need an extra quarter this time.
Moving their entire product line up over to Intel in less than 12 months is "barely" ? I'm not sure which alternative universe you are operating out of . Name another computer company that moved their whole entire product line over in less time?
