So this happened yesterday. Also it started choking at boot up. Didn’t used to do this. If I walk away from MP for an hour or so the screen is dark. Normally all I do is angle the mouse and it wakes up. Now it doesn’t.

I’m still on Catalina. Also big chime. The thing about these 2019 MAC Pros is they’re uncomfortably silent.

Any ideas?

I'm having the same issue. It has happened twice now. It refuses to wake from sleep. I had to force shut down holding the power button. It generates a "sleep wake failure" diagnostic report, but it doesn't appear to contain any useful info that I can read. I submitted a case using Feedback Assistant. The 7,1 is running Monterey 12.6.3.

It may be a PCI card issue. If you search the forums for “Highpoint” and “Sleep issues”, you should find several threads where this is addressed. Wishing you the best

Is this intended behavior? Did you set power management or screensaver preferences to make it behave like this?

In case it isn't, try running 'caffeinate &' in the terminal ('man caffeinate' lists what this utility does and what command line options are available). This should prevent sleeping unless you explictly trigger it from the Apple menu or via 'pmset sleepnow' in the terminal.

Oops, old thread. Oh well, I'll leave my comment up for now. Perhaps still relevant. :)

Thank you. I don't have a switched Highpoint type card installed, but I have the OS booting off an NVMe in a simple PCIe adapter.

If you stop all of the "Preventing Sleep" apps as shown in Activity monitor does that make a difference?

Someone on Facebook said maybe the Mac is turning off power from the PCIe slots during sleep. If that's the case then letting it sleep when booted off a PCIe connected drive probably isn't a good idea. So I'm not letting it sleep now.

best solution there is. the sleep issue is prevalent on the 5,1's, and it obviously is still a small issue on the 7,1's, so i suggest turn that sleep off and power down when your done for the day.
