Somewhere between Here and There
Hi there,
I'm looking to upgrade my mac pro to a octo core.
I know where to find the CPU, but the heatsink is giving me some hassle.
I found a few on eBay but they say They're for the dual core models.
So I had a look around for the part number and found it. [076-1303]
But also looking at the hardware resource at the top of this forum shows that the heatsink from the 2006 dualcore is linked via the 2008 mac upgrade section.
/Quote/ Additional Heatsink for 2008 2.80GHz Quad Core (part# 076-1233) /Quote/
Does this mean that it is correct, that I can use that heatsink? (worries about TPD) I checked that the 5160 used in the 2006 was 80 watt, same as the 2.8ghz quad.
And finally for someone who has handled both or owns both is There any physical difference between the heatsinks.

Thanks in advance.

Did you ever upgrade your quad-core to an octo-core? What did you do about the heat sink? Thank you..
