Mac Pro here I come (maybe)

My university is having a tax free sale in two weeks, I'm thinking to get a base model (8 cores 2.8 GHz) Mac Pro tower as I can buy it for $2,599. Now it's just a matter of whether or not I can make myself comfortable laying down that kind of cash! It's there, but I'm probably going to be back and forth for the next week and a half!

What would you do?

Depends on the difference between want and need. Only you know your financial situation best.

A Mac Pro is awesome, no doubt about it. Could you do just as well with a 24" iMac? Maybe!

Yeah, it's something I've always wanted (since I got into mac's) but I'm going to start applying to Med schools soon so maybe I'd better put it on hold for a while. We'll see how it goes I suppose.
