So i just bit the bullet on a w3690 for ,y 2010 mac pro, but i have a question for you all. The mac came with stock 1066 ram that i upped to 8gb. Will the 1066 ram work when i up the cpu? I dont really have the budget for ram right now, so i am hoping it will work (crosses fingers).

Yes, the existing memory you've installed will run on that CPU.

If you have any left-over sticks, maybe, depending on what's in the system currently (i.e you cannot mix Registered DIMM's with anything else, and early 4GB Unbuffered DIMM's from OWC didn't mix with other UDIMM's, including the OEM memory, which is UDIMM).

Thank you for the reply! I am very excited to get the cpu and turn my beast into a monster!
