Has anyone been able to pick up a mac pro at the apple store or best buy, without a pre order?

Given the long lead times on ordering the nMP, I'd say they're not in stores yet. I was just in an apple store the other day and they had none.

Best way to check what's at your local stores is to use the Apple and Best Buy websites which let you check for that.

Best Buy has some items that they don't stock in stores and you have to order. The Mac Pro is probably one of them.

Likewise. I went in to replace my power adapter last weekend and no nMPs were to be found.

My BestBuy (about 2 blocks from the Apple Store) has few Apple devices on the floor, They carry the Mac mini, but you have to ask for it and it will be brought to you as they did for my Airport Express.

I saw two stock configurations for sale the other day at Microcenter in Houston. Microcenter has their own Apple Store of sorts.

No, I personally saw one available for purchase yesterday.

Well that was the lucky one, I've called/visited 3 of them as recently as tonight including fifth avenue since launch and have not been able to buy one in person.
