Mac Pro Intel CPU Models

I'm researching a possible upgrade to my several year old Mac Pro. Is there any site that would list the current Mac Pro line up and what MODEL intel CPU is in it... I don't mean a name like Nehalem, but a model number like W3650, etc.

Apple gives us the speed, but it's not always easy to cross reference this to the exact model cpu... I've gone through wicki, but it's not straightforward.

Apple offer the W3530 (2.8x4), W3565 (3.2x4) and W3680 (3.33x6).

Coincidently due to Intel's revisions and price drops Apple's two upgrades are still the best choices. Just not at Apple's prices as the W3530 is now retired the other two have dropped down a price point - with the W3690 (3.46x6) taking the top spot.

This means you can get a W3565 for under $300 and a W3680 for under $600. The two best choices for 2009-2010 single Mac Pro owners.
 
I didn't know the W3565 was so cheap. I know it isn't a direct fit into a 2009, but with a little bit of modification it will do nicely.

And add a 2 millimeter spacer between the sockets and the heat sinks to account for the Dedicated Heat Riser that is missing on the 2009 CPUs.

And trim the tabs off of the cooling fan power connectors so they can make contact with the terminals in the daughter board now that the heat sink sits higher than before.

Minor modifications for the dual core MP.

Yes. But only two processor models. A single processor version is simpler and cheaper solution (standard Intel processor).
