I just discovered this forum and hope you can help me! I have a Mac Pro Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 2.8 GHz processor that I use with a 30" Cinema Display. The warranty expires tomorrow :)

I have had issues off and on for the past two years with the Mac having trouble restarting after shutdown. This would happen if the mac was on for a few days. It would keep wanting to shut down and would finally work if I unplugged all the cables and then restarted it. The Monitor would also dim down automatically. Being my main work horse it was hard to spare and I finally took it to a repair shop and they run diagnostics and found nothing. Apple did change some parts on the Monitor. The guy suggested it could be an issue with the power strip so I replaced it with a APC Battery backup one powered at 550 Watts.

It worked fine on start up but then I had worse issues with the monitor where it constantly flickered and I plugged it directly into the wall. It worked fine. When I talked to APC today they had me reset the battery backup and it is working fine right now but I find the problem is usually when the monitor/computer are on for a while and then restarted.

I am wondering if the current battery backup is the right amount of wattage? I am not a techy person and pardon my novel! I am just trying to figure out if I should still send in the display while my warranty is there?

thanks!
