I have a Mac Pro that I bought Jan 2008 with an NVidia GeForce 8800GT Graphics Card. I've tried to figure out if I could purchase a new Apple 27" LED to work with my mac. Does anyone know if there is an adapter for use with the LED screen as I don't have an Apple Display port on the graphics card or would I have to buy a new graphics card for the LED to work.

Thanks in advance any help or advice appreciated. I have tried to look online and figure out whats best but I'm stuck.

There are adapters, but they are so expensive you are better off getting an ATI 5770 in my opinion. It will connect directly by MDP connection and it will be much faster also.

Alternatively, you could just get a high quality monitor with a DVI input, such as a Dell Ultrasharp, instead of an Apple Cinema Display.

Thanks for the reply. I've got a Dell at the moment and it's been a great monitor, really nice colour and good value. I think I might hold off and see if someone doesn't come out with a graphics card that maybe features an Apple Display Port or a Thunderbolt port once the technology is a bit more established.

Cheers for your help.

Not to hijack the thread

I too have an LED 24 inch cinema display.. just ordered a 2nd hand Power Mac G5 and was wondering if this expensive adapter will work to power the LED Cinema display? This is going to be used as a file server, and everyday computer.. I will use my mac pro for heavy duty stuff, as I am pushing everyday stuff(internet, youtube, etc) on to the PM G5 Quad which I got for under 500.00

Well sure, but it's $200. For $500+$200, you would have been better off getting a Mac Mini IMHO. Small, quiet, energy-efficient, and MDP built-in.
