Mac Pro laggy after upgrade

Not for the faint of heart folks . We are talking about the OG Mac Pro running 10.9.4 and the 2,1 Mac Pro firmware on an ssd with 16GB of ram.

Got real laggy once I went from 10.7 to 10.9
What I've tried: -zapped pram -repaired disk permissions -have the latest updates -reset smc

The symptoms are extremely laggy screen sharing. It feels as if I'm remoting to the computer on Mars

let me guess: there's no screen connected to the Mac Pro, right? try to attach a screen or a dongle that tricks the Mac into "thinking" that there's a screen connected ->

or, you could try to run the Mac Pro without a graphics card at all. I know it'll work but I can't say if it will be laggy or not.

You're correct sir. Currently there is a Dvi to hdmi adapter hanging out of the back but that is it. Thanks for the tip!
