Mac Pro memory speed

Hi all,

I have 2013 Mac Pro with 16GB or ram but want to upgrade to 64. The stuff inside runs at 1866mhz but have seen some 64GB which runs at 1600mhz, will this make a major difference in performance in day to day tasks, mainly photoshop/after effects.

I agree. If you look at the subtests of benchmarks that stress memory bandwidth, you'll see a difference.

If you look at the subtests that measure performance of useful applications, the difference is small to noise.

The reason is that the memory subtests deliberately try to defeat the effects of memory caches to measure the raw bandwidth from DIMMs to/from CPU.

Applications, on the other hand, are usually written to make the best use of cache.
