Mac Pro 5,1
2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
32GB Ram
AMD RX580 GPU
Running Monterey (via OCLP)

My mac randomly powers off. Happens inconsistently. Sometimes it can be on for days without happening. Other times I can't get it to stay on for 2 min. Sometimes when I power it up I don't get a chime and it never boots. I've tried all the resets. I tried putting in my old stock GPU. I have it plugged into a UPS. Tried plugging directly into an outlet. Nothing works.
Just recently replaced the power supply. Still same problem.

Could it be the CPU? Or my RAM? If so, how can I narrow down the problem.

Thanks in advance.

If so, how can I narrow down the problem.

First step is to run AHT, then ASD.

AHT/ASD:

You need to run AHT and ASD (if it's a cross-flashed to MP5,1 early-2009 Mac Pro, you'll need to run mid-2010 versions) to find what is causing the shutdowns.
You need an Apple OEM GPU (HD 2600XT, 8800GT, Quadro FX 5600, GT120, HD 4870/5770/5870) to run AHT/ASD. AHT/ASD can be used with PC flashed GPUs, but will fail mid test when the GPU sensors are checked. Non flashed PC GPUs won't work at all. You need to boot completely vanilla, no OC, to use AHT/ASD.
You can get AHT links and instructions on how to install it on this GitHub article.
AHT, you need 022-4831-A.dmg:
The ASD version that you need is 3S149. The AHT instructions are valid for creating an ASD USB key and Apple provides a PDF with it.
ASD, you need 3S149:
For people that have an early-2009 cross-flashed with MP5,1 firmware, you will need to run the MacPro5,1 versions of AHT (022-4831-A) and ASD (3S149).

When I unzip the ASD folder there are multiple DMG files. Do I use each one?

I passed all tests with AHD and ASD. Did extended version also. Thoughts?

You use the RX570 to run AHT and ASD, and pass all tests without any error code reported?
No I used the HD 5870 like you said above. And it passed all tests. It is shutting down with both the RX580 and the HD 5870. Doesn’t make difference which GPU is in it.
