Hello All.
I have a Mac Pro 4,1 that I flashed awhile back to the 5,1 firmware for High Sierra support. All has been well, but now I'm looking to upgrade to Mojave. From all the walkthroughs I've seen it looks pretty straight forward. Running the Mojave installer prompts for a firmware upgrade as expected. When clicking shutdown I'm prompted for my admin credentials, but the machine doesn't shutdown to start the process. When booting off external Mojave media, I get the same screen and clicking Shut Down does nothing. If I manually shut down and attempt to go through the firmware upgrade, I get the fast blinking power light and tone as one would to start a firmware update, but after restart I'm right back where I left off.
Mac Pro has a supported metal card (RX 580) and from everything I've read and video walkthroughs this should just work. And advice would be much appreciated, thank you.
