Hello Mac Pro people.

I have ordered a 2009 MP and would like to know how well the Pros are running with 10.8 Mountain Lion.

I know this machine dates from the Leopard times, but is compatible with the current OS X. Is anyone having problems running ML? Any GUI freezes, lock-ups, random restarts?

I really hope I can use this MacPro with the latest OS X.

Thanks.

I really hope especially to hear from people with the same model: MacPro 4,1 (2009).

How is your Mountain Lion experience?

I have a 4,1 that was born with Leopard. I've upgraded through each version of OSX and am currently running ML. No issues at all, runs fast and smoothly, and solid as a rock.

Zerozal,

Thanks for your feedback.

I see that you are using a RAID0. Do you need a RAID card to do that? Or can you set it up using Disk Utility?

It looks like you've upgraded your graphics card. Is that Radeon an official Apple card? Or did you have to flash a PC card?

You don't need a RAID card--I am just using the built-in ability via Disk Utility.

And yes, I upgraded to an official Apple 5870--I'm very computer savvy, but I do NOT want to deal with flashing cards, boot problems, worrying that the next OS update may break my card compatability, etc. I don't mind paying extra for stability and "no muss, no fuss", which is why I got the official Apple card.
