Mac Pro optical out always on.

Hello,

I'm very happy with my Mac Pro, so the only 'issues' I have with it are extremely minor, but here's one: I've only got line out plugged in in terms of audio, but the optical out always glows red. Is this normal, will it have any negative impact, and how can I switch it off?

mines always glowing too. I just ignore it

It was always like this with my Powermac G5 and is the same with my Mac Pro. Never caused any problems.

That just means that its always checking to see if somethings plugged into it. Not a problem.
