I work at a wall decor company, Its not unusual that I editing photoshop files that are over 15GBs in size when saved. I want a new Mac but the Mac Pro is 2 year old. Should I wait, get a 5K iMac maxed out or get a Pro?

Man if your sizes are that big whatever you buy you need so much memory. Normally a heavy weight photoshop users opens files no bigger than 2-3GB. You're line of work is above and beyond that. You will need 32GB minimum with room to upgrade in the future. Officially iMac 5k supports 32GB. Unofficially it supports 64GB and is better value for money than the 2 year old Mac Pro and includes a very wide gamut screen.

Or a maxed out cMP 12 core with 128GB of ram, a 7970 or two and PCIe SSDs. That would be probably more fit for your extreme needs of psb files.

In real world usage that 12 cores aren't being used most of the time in Photoshop. That 4ghz Skylake however is extremely efficient and in all single core tasks would be a lot more powerful. TheDoctor11 posted its Photoshop benchmark score and it's almost the same as a 12 core Westmere.

I am currently using a pre-rentina mac book pro with a 1TB SSD(spit into 2 partitions, 650 for os, apps and file, and 350 for just photoshop scratch disc) and 10GBs of ram. I really want to upgrade cus reading comics or doing calisthenics at my desk while thinks open and presses it getting old.
