Was chugging along fine and all of a sudden just like someone pulled the plug, power went off. I quickly went into process of elimination mode, got the service manual and did the following:

checked outlet
checked ac cord
used two different ac cords
opened the side dimmed room lights and looked for the trickle power led

I see no lights at all, which leads me to believe one of 2 things:
power supply
faulty on / off switch ( front panel)

this is my work machine so I'm down till this is resolved. I can always go buy another but just need to know for sure what is causing this.

I can pull the power supply but is there a way to check and see if this is the culprit or not? would hate to order one , install and find out it's something else.

anyone??

If you're within a 80 mile range from an AASP or Apple store, give Apple a call and request someone to come to your place and check the machine.

Give them a hint that it might be the power supply and the service guy should bring a PSU with him.
