Mac Pro quadro k5000

I purchased a Quadro K5000 for MAC

Hello All,
I really could use some help. I'm running High Sierra v10.13.6 Mid 2010 w/2x2.66 GHz 6-Core

I tried to download updated video drivers from Nvidia. I received an error message OS X is not compatible.

Is there a way to fix this?

I can't help with your specific situation but I honestly had way better luck with Apples drivers for that card vs Nvidias. Nvidias drivers were always showing errors in Mari where as Apples worked fine.

Apple's drivers are built-in to the OS, so you don't technically need Nvidia's web drivers at all. You will also be able to upgrade to Mojave or Catalina if you like, as the K5000 is supported.

I added it again. No luck. Nothing comes up. Too frustrating. I keep trying to breathe life into this old machine and I'm wondering if it's time is slowly coming due.

Hi, I am in the same boat as you, mac 5:1 k5000 mac edition high sierra. I’ve tryed to upgrade to mojave and mouse cursor is freezing! How did you solved the problem?

Hi, sorry not much help either, it is a Mac edition? I just did a clean install of Mojave with normal Apple drivers and also Big Sur via OC. Both are running fine.

Yes it is the K5000 Mac edition, when I try to do a Mojave clean install it says that the card does not support metal, the only way to instal Mojave is to install High Sierra first and from there upgrade to Mojave but when the installer finishes it says that nvidia web drivers previously installed in High Sierra could not be used anymore and it switches to generic drivers of Mojave and after that the mouse cursor start to freeze.

Just add another drive to your Mac Pro and then clean install Mojave from High Sierra to the new disk.

Hi tsialex, I've just did it and it seemed right until I've restarted the mac, then after one minute it started freezing again.
Very frustrating, I also have a flashed asus gtx 680 and that works good, the problem of asus is that the power consuming is a lot more than the k5000 and I have to get an external power cause with the avid hdx card that control pro tools is too much power to handle by the mac.. with the k5000 I'm done.

Mojave UI being METAL based require a lot more GPU power than High Sierra, if your GPU is not correctly powered or is problematic/defective/dying/etc you will find it fast.

Something is wrong and you need to diagnose it.

I tryed to press d then turn on the mac but it does not go in diagnostic, is there any other way?

Thanks for the link, I did it with usb stick like it says in the link, I did run the quick test and the results was all good. Now I'm running the extended test, I'll post the result.
