Mac Pro Ram 2013 For Maya 2015/2016

Hi everybody,

Apologies if the questions been asked before, I had a look and couldn't find anything on this topic.

I am buying a used Mac Pro 2013, according to Autodesk 2016 system requirements, 32GB is needed for Maya 2016 on the Mac.

1) Could I get away with the standard 12GB that comes with the Mac Pro?

2) If looking at upgrading the ram in the coming months, should I pick ECC unbuffered or ECC registered which is more expensive/reliable?

3) I presume the above will work well with Mari too?

Considering I'm able to run Maya on my MBPr with 8gb of ram, and it's useable, yes

The MP includes unbuffered DIMMS. If you will be keeping any of the original DIMMs in use, you'll have to buy unbuffered DIMMs because you cannot mix unbuffered and registered. If you are going to remove all of the DIMMs, then you can use either.

I've always bought uDIMM just because they seem to be the most common, except for 16GB sticks which I notice are often (or always?) rDIMM.
