I would like some advice please. I’m looking at the Mac Pro because, as a freelance designer, this will enable
me to link it to my old iMac and use my iMac as a display. I also have an iMac at home so I can use the Mac Pro in the same way. The question is, when I visit clients would I be able to use my 2009 Macbook Pro in the same way?
Can I use the laptop as a display for the Mac Pro? My Macbook Pro has a ‘mini display port’ not Thunderbolt.
If this is possible it would make my work much more flexible.

I would be looking to get the 8 Core, 32GB RAM, D700 graphics, and 256MB storage.

I would also have an external HD and an external DVD.

I’m a 3D designer working in Live events. I use Illustrator and Photoshop along with Sketchup.

I render out of Sketchup using Shaderlight but may well transfer to Vray.
Rendering speed is what I really need at the moment.

Any help would be great if this is possible and if so what cables would I need to do so

I’m assuming you would leave the Mac at home and bring your MBP, and want to use it essentially as a terminal for the Pro?

I’m not sure this is a cable issue rather than a screen share issue. And if doing remotely you really would need remote control software (with appropriate security) and a decent connection. Would you expect the clients to give you WiFi access?

If I have this wrong please feel free to elaborate further.
