I just purchased some KRK V4's for my newly setup editing suite, and I'm having some trouble figuring out how to hook up the speakers. They apparently have an XLR or Line output. Do I need to get something to put in the middle of them, like a breakout box or something?

I'm very new to the audio side of things, I'm usually just an editor for picture.

Edit: Realized I posted this in the wrong forum. Could it be moved to Digital Audio?

yea, you will need an external audio interface to power the monitors. In my studio, i use a firepod to connect to my mac pro. My monitors would then plug into the back of the firepod via 1/4" speaker cable.

If you use Digital Performer, Logic, or CuBase as your audio software, then something like the firepod will work just fine (i use DP).

Hope this helps!

Thanks, I thought I would need an interface, but wasn't sure exactly what kind.
