Mac Pro SSD question

Hey folks

I just brought a new vertex 4 SSD for my 2010 mac pro.
I'm only getting speeds of 260mb/s from it, is this because of my mother board?

Will I be able to upgrade the firmware so it runs the drive at 560mb/s?

or am I stuck at 260? It's noticeably faster so I'm still happy but the 560 would be epic.

Yes... your MB only supports SATA II, so you will not see the SATA III capabilities of the drive.

You need to buy a SATA3 card to get more than 260MB/s.

Sounds good, only take care.....

If you want to boot from that setup (USB 3.0 card and SSD). To my best knowledge, only a handful of USB 3.0 cards can boot from Mac OS X in the Mac Pro

I would recommend just staying with your integrated controller, because the important random IOs are often better with the chipset integrated controller compared to 3rd party controllers. Usually most users don't have any other drive to read/write sequential as fast as SATA 6 GBit/s allows.
