So I got my Mac Pro today. Standard config with 2.66ghz Xeons and 7300 GT card. Also got the 30" cinema display. WOW! What a machine.

So anti mac me thinks.

First its been running for hours and its NOT hot at all. Feels like no hot air is even blowing out the back.

Second its as quiet as a laptop. Makes NO noise at all. Seriously.

Third its fast as hell. Got XP running on it as well with some alternate drivers and its great.

This all in contrast to my G5 which was loud, HOT and not nearly as fast as this.

Best mac ever period. So glad I went into debt to get it. Never looking back.

PS: I new this was coming so I sold my Dual 2ghz G5 2 weeks ago for $2700. he he. I made money.

Standard 1Gb RAM as well? Sounds like the Mac Pro's have good performance with 'little' RAM... which is good, as I'll have to save to add more to mine :)

Agh, bastards! I can't wait for my 3.0Ghz to come! Next Friday at the latest apparently. Then I get my extra RAM by the 22nd and the X1900XT by September 12th:confused:

The wait is killin' me!

Does anyone know for certain if you can install the wireless and bluetooth later? I'm getting ready to buy but don't want to wait 4 weeks for BTO. I would also like to upgrade the video card but I'm holding out to see if I can find a better more affordable option than Apple supplies. I'd like to just order the stock 2.6 and add my own stuff later. It sucks that just adding a few options pushes the ship date out so far. Hopefully Apple will rectify that once things settle down. I bet they are selling a **** load of those new machines!

I asked about that today at the store and yes it can be installed later - but an authorized installer (apple store or other) has to do it. Apparently it's REALLY easy to brick the bluetooth module (like just touching it). If it calms you at all - I bought the default config and will be upgrading RAM, HDD, WiFi/BT, and GrFX (maybe if I feel it needs it)

Buy now, upgrade later.
