This is for anyone running a Mac Pro with three 4k displays. Mac 10.10 has know issues with interface lag. Windows stuttering, mission control lag, Swiping desktop slowness. This is seen largely on 13in MBP's and lower. 15in MBP does not have it on its own display, but it does when running one external 4k plus its retina display. How do the Mac Pros hold up? Can they run three 4k displays with multiple safari tabs, PDF's, Word or text edit documents running all at the same time with out having this issue or can it been seen on the Mac Pro as well?

Please keep in mind, I'm not asking about lag in the apps themselves. Just if when you do OS functions if there is lag or stutter.

The issue is Yosemite. It has poorly optimised GUI. My rMBP 2012 and Mac Pro 2013 were suffering from these stutters as well. The reason 10.11 was introduced mainly is to fix and optimise speed and performance. Try it. I run both public beta on both and all so much smoother than 10.10.3/4. Difference is day and night.

But does it happen in the Mac Pro?

Didn't you ask this in the MBP section about them too??

You're trying to push almost 25 MP I really don't think anything is going to do that smoothly. The graphics in neither computer are exactly recent or powerful. IMHO you're trying go a bridge to far I'd give another 8 to 12 months

The reason I'm asking is I'm trying to help this guy with his mac dilemma. He has a older MBP that is have the issue. I ran a test on my 2015 MBP and only had the issue when I hooked up one 4k display. He's trying to run three 4k displays with out having this issue.

I completely understand this is an issue with the OS. I ran several tests on my MBP that shows that to be true. He is just pretty set on getting a machine that is lag free and started asking about the Mac Pro. Since I don't own a Mac Pro I thought I would ask you lucky owners if you have had similar issues on the MP. I assume that you may as its largely an OS issue, though with the Xeon and server class GPU it may it was enough to smooth it out.

Tired 10.12 dp1, seems the multi monitor (if any one of them is 4K) UI lag is gone. Mission control is smooth, dock animation also smooth.

Good to hear that. Thanks. If there is no lag now with multiple 4K monitors, does anyone know how to get the third bus input for 4K (which would be the HDMI) to 60 Hz and not 30 Hz?
