I have an idea for those worried about wires coming out of this new mac pro into storage etc..
Maybe someone can design a "Transformer case"
you slide the Mac Pro cylinder into the case so that the top exhaust fan hole sticks out slightly.
Inside the case you can have a filter and a fan to blow filtered air into the unit. then internally you have a cable management unit, where you can plug in your thunderbolt 2 and it feeds an internal RAID section that can support 8 hotswap drives.
on the front of the case, you can have extra ports etc. (ie additional USB ports, thunderbolt ports, esata etc.)
think of it like a Mac Pro type case you slide your 2013 mac pro into. but with more features, ie hot swap hardware raid controller fed by the thunderbolt,etc..
and the front can have a display with details on drive health etc..
and you can add optional 10GB sfp ports on the back (fed by thunderbolt 2)
Support ESCON and HIPPI connections as well (optional modules) or Fiber channel modules, or BUS and TAG connections etc...
HIPPI - for those who need to connect to CRAYs or BUS AND TAG/ESCON for those connecting to IBM mainframes
module packs that slide into the back for extra ports.
