How's it going everyone.

Recently I put a crucial m4 256GB SSD in my 2008 Mac Pro (3,1)
I installed lion via the dmg onto the SSD via an external enclosure.
Did all the updates and then placed the SSD inside my mac pro with an icey dock.

I then installed Windows 7 via bootcamp and did all those updates.
I was using the windows side for about a week and never noticed any issues

Yesterday I boot into the mac side and use it for about 10 minutes with FCP 7.
It seems to work fine, but after a few minutes when you try to play a video in fcp you get a beachball of death or whatever it's called. This happens in any app and doesn't have to be a video.
Even if I try to open disk utility it shows up as non-responsive.
I rebuild spotlight. Checked updates, verified disk, repaired permissions and it still freezes with any app after 10 to 15 minutes of use.
The windows side is unaffected and does not freeze.

The firmware was 0309 and I thought 000F (crucial firmware) would fix it, but it still freezes with the new firmware.

I have the same ssd running lion on my 2011 MBP and it works great.
I'm hoping there's something I missed and I hope it's just that this drive won't work with my mac pro.

Please let me know if anyone has any tips or has seen this before and can recommend a fix.
Thanks

I didn't enable trim.
Just the stock ssd with lion and bootcamp.

Well I pulled the ssd out of the icy dock and made a makeshift mount out of 3x5 index cards and the drive runs fine.

Needless to say the icy dock is going back where it came from and now I need to either put it in the dvd bay or get another mounting kit for the ssd that goes straight to the sata connector.

Thanks for the help.

I just got a M4 128 and a M4 256 last night....

Running Lion on the 128, 256 for working files.... alls well here.

For a minute I thought I was reading a Sandforce thread:eek:
Oh, Crucial too.

Heck for a moment there I thought I was reading a Kingston Technologies thread for SSDNow 200v... It's been a nightmare with the kingston... almost lost 40GB of hi-res pics on my way back from vacation on the flight back! Eeek!

Might be a drive issue. I'm running the same drive in the same MacPro on Lion (soon ML) and have had no issues with it. On the latest firmware and do have TRIM enabled.
