Mac Pro with AppleTV?

I just bought an Apple TV thinking that i could screen share with my 2009 macpro that has a 5870 graphic card. turns out mac pros are not supported to screen share. is there someway around this? I would just use the mini display port to hdmi but it only sends video and not audio.
I thought that this computer has enough power to send it to the apple tv...
 
It isn't a case of raw power. AirPlay requires a sandybridge / ivy bridge CPU based mac. Apple implemented the AirPlay using the intel quicksync technology. The CPU in the Mac Pro doesn't support that.

Look at air parrot as that simply uses CPU power to send the screen rather then using the built in gpu of sandybridge/ivybridge CPUs.
 
This has been discussed in the past. Intel Quick Sync does hardware decoding of video vs Software decoding which would take precious CPU cycles of rather limited mac such as the macbook air, mac mini and lower end macbook pros... but limiting software decoding on a mac that is more than capable and has more than enough power to do it like the mac pro is plain ridiculous and greedy from apple.

Eh. Even a Mac Pro is a guarantee that you could encode high quality 1080p in real time.
