Mac Pro with multiple Monitors

Hi Guys,

I just ordered a Mac Pro and plan to use my Dell 3008 30" Monitor along with the new Dell U3011 30" I just got.

Question is can I use these 2 monitors and using programs like Parallels can I have Windows 7 on one of the screens and Mac OS on another screen? Is this possible?

I have a 30" and 2 23" monitors and have done something quite similiar with Parallels. Parallels functions like most other programs.

What I don't think you can do with Parallels is spread windows and it's apps out across multiple monitors.

Thanks thats good to know. When you say spread out, does it mean I wont be able to get lets say Microsoft Outlook all on one screen?

I am running two 27" ACDs on my hexcore Mac Pro and have been using Windows (via Parallels) on either monitor and also spread across most of the double display width, with no problems. I found having Windows running, filling the secondary display, particularly useful as you can then keep Mac OS and menu bar etc. unaffected on the primary monitor.
- and in Parallels' coherence mode you can have the open Windows application windows anywhere across the multiple displays.

With Parallels you have several options. The two that I find very useful are:

1. Run the VM in full screen mode on 1 of your monitors. This will give the look of 2 separate computers next to each other where the mouse and keyboard just slide across. Note that in this mode you can put a OSX app over the windows display but not the other way around.

2. The other really useful mode is coherence. This mode just runs the Windows apps in their own windows and they behave as though they were OSX apps. You can put whatever app (Win or OSX) anywhere on either screen.

Thanks for all your help guys. I will use these 30" monitors like this.
Mainly Outlook in one monitor and OSX on the other so I can do OSX on the other.
