Hi there,

I've just got a USB 2.0 card for our Mac Pro which seems to need a power supply via molex. The box says the card is OSX compatible, but I'm a bit stumped as I can't find a Molex power cable to supply it. What am I missing?

S'alright, solved it. 4-pin molex in the DVD drive bay. Ran a long molex between there to the pcie slots. Can just get through between the case and the side cover.

i have never seen a USB PCI card that needed molex power. every one i have ever used just pops into the PCI slot and that's it. what brand is yours?

It's a Dexlan. I was surprised when I discovered it as well. It has got five usb 2 ports on it, but I'm surprised the PCIE bus can't provide enough power for it. But then I've seen 2 port usb 2 pcie cards that need power via molex as well, so what do I know? If anyone can shed light on why, then I'd be interested to know.

5 extra USB ports is nice. but yeah, not sure why they require molex. hey, if it works, that's all that matters :)
