Mac Pro won't start :(

My Mac Pro(late 2008/early 2009 2.8Ghz 8core) was working fine last night. It won't start this morning after I pressed the power button. The screen is black and the white LED above the power button is blinking. I unplugged external accessories(FW/USB), still the same thing. What's going on?

Sounds like it's in sleep mode. Did you press a key on the keyboard yet?

No, it's not in sleep mode. Pressed all the keys, space bar and mouse buttons. Still black screen, blinking light above power button.

May be bad RAM inside the computer, wrong RAM type or RAM that is installed improperly.

Take all the RAM out and reinstall one matching pair at a time, in the correct slots, until you isolate the bad ram.

Boot holding Command-D. Make sure the display is plugged in all the way.

Problem found. I took those 4GB OWC DIMM strips out, all four of them. Only has 1GB Apple strip(factory ram) on each of the risers, configuration 1 for my 2008 MP(see attached). The MP boots up beautifully!

I later found out two of those OWC 4GB DIMMs are bad. The other two are okay. Wonder if I should order replacement from OWC? Advice on better brands at affordable prices?

I had the same problem with my 2008 MP.
OWC memory died.
Weird, after 3 years.
Good news.... if you were the original purchaser there is a lifetime warranty.

As a suggestion email OWC and advise them of your memory problems. They do have a lifetime warranty on their memory. They will email you back a reference code which must be printed on the external of the parcel when you send it to them.

Lost 2x2GB modules on my Mac Pro. Posted them off and within seven days had two replacement modules f.o.c. air mail to Australia.
