Mac pro wont wake up from sleep.

A few times now I have noticed that my mac pro doesnt automatically go to sleep, and it isnt because I have a certain application open.

Sometimes I just tell it to sleep manually.

A few times now, I have been unable to wake it up. The light above the power button is fading on and off at the moment, the monitor is on and set to the right input, and it works just fine with other devices.

I just held the power button to force shutdown, and booted it up. Now it works without any problems.



The only issue I can think of that might be causing this is that I have a raid card (separate SSDs on it, nothing complicated) that has acted up a couple of times now.


Any other possibilities? It's kind of disconcerting.

I believe it's your display not properly waking up. Your computer is probably waking up fine. To verify, disable sleep for the display.

If it is the display, it is a known issue.

I'd first check your RAID card battery condition if you suspect that maybe causing issues, however, your display does sound suspect here.

What display do you currently use?

My display wakes up normally if I do not allow the computer to sleep. I have to disconnect the cable or power cord for about 20 seconds and plug it back in to wake the display if the computer goes to sleep

It isnt the display as far as I can tell. It is a Dell ultrasharp 24''. It will say "there is no signal coming from this input" and when I switch the input to, say, HDMI it will display the device connected to it just fine.

Furthermore, the light above the power button shouldnt be flashing (slowly fading on and off) if the mac pro is actually awake, as I just tested and that only happens during sleep.
