I just finally got around to installing my xmas present. I got most everything going except.

When I turn on the firewall, I can no longer access the shares on my windows computer. I added all possible under server pref once I turn the firewall on. I hate to run it without the firewall

Thanks

Does this machine have an external IP address? If you're on your own private network with no ports directly mapped to the OS X server then you really don't need to run the firewall. You can add a custom rule to say any traffic from the windows machines is allowed in, or add a rule for each port. I want to say that it's 137, 138, 139, 445 UDP and TCP.

Server Admin -> Firewall -> Settings -> Advanced
