So I was disappointed to see that the built in hdmi output can only support 4k 60hz. After using the promotion display on my macbook pro, I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to a 60hz screen.

My LG CX tv does 120hz from my xbox, is there any way I can use this Mac Studio to get true 120hz output? I hope this makes sense thank you!

If it is the same as the one on the MacBook Pro, then you can have 4K 120 from the thunderbolt port, just use a good enough adapter. It seems like you are using a TV which may not have USB-C or DP inputs, so be careful to choose the adapters.

There is a 15 page thread on this:

As far as I know the display stuffs is the same between all the M1's so whatever solution they found there should work on the Studio.
