You will need a USB-C to DVI-I adapter. Or DVI-D depending upon how you mistyped.
HDMI to DVI cable or adapter is the most straight-forward and less costly as DVI video signal is identical to HDMI.what would be the best way to connect my existing NEC LCD2690WUXi2 26" as a second monitor via DVD-I [1920x1200]?
I’ll be sure to check the configuration of the pins. I did see an adapter on OWC that cost about $14 from newtech. One confusing fact on the description of the adapter was it would only work on monitors up to 24 inches. The NEC that I have is 26 inches. I mostly plan on using this With Photoshop and light room otool pallets, while using the new display for the actual image. Does that change what type of DVI adapter for the size screen that it will work with? These claim to work with 1920x1200 resolution (most HDMI to DVI adapters should):
Adapter: https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-DVI-D-Video-Cable-Adapter/dp/B009YCASK2/ (would require an HDMI cable)
Cable replacement: https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Mini-HDMI-DVI-D-Cable/dp/B00GJ40AD8/
USB-C to DVI active adapter (I don't think the cheap $8 passive adapters can handle 1920x1200) This one claims to work with 1920x1200 resolution:
StarTech.com USB C to DVI Adapter - Black - 1920x1200 - USB Type C Video Converter for Your DVI D Display/Monitor/Projector - Upgraded Version is CDP2DVIEC (CDP2DVI)
STARTECH, USB-C TO DVI ADAPTER - THUNDERBOLT 3 COMPATIBLE - BLACK - 1920X1200www.amazon.com
I haven't tried any of these myself, so YMMV.
The various DVI types can get confusing. You can google this info, but just make sure if you're re-using your DVI cable, that it's pin compatible with the adapter.
Good luck!
No. Screen size has nothing to do with it. Only resolution. There's literally no way for the cable/adapter to know what the screen size is.Does that change what type of DVI adapter for the size screen that it will work with?

I don't know what to say about the newtech adapter, but whoever wrote the product description has absolutely no idea what they're talking about. That's an embarrassing epic fail.
Glad to help - hope you find something that works for your setup.
