I have a Studio with a Studio Display ..... and just purchased a magic keyboard with touch ID. the keyboard is charged and paired and I'm able to type without a problem but I can't seem to activate touch ID. Otherwise, the keyboard seems to work as expected.

After I open the touch ID preference and double click the power button per the preference, nothing happens. I've restarted the computer and attempted to set it up with the power cable attached and after I've removed the cable. double clicking the power button doesn't progress to scanning my finger print.

Mac OS is 12.6.

Any thoughts?

TIA

Try to double click fast.
ahh ... thanks. I finally was successful.
I deleted the keyboard in the BT preference, shut the Mac down, turned off the keyboard, connected the charging cable, restarted the Mac, turned on the keyboard and it worked. I left the keyboard cabled until things were working. so far, so good.
