So there's the new Cintiq drawing tablet I'll be getting (it's a tablet with display for people who don't know). Wacom display is capable of running at 3840x2160 120 Hz @ 10bit color depth (they say a 30 bit color range in the spec so 10 bit per channel, the so-called "over billion colors"). Does that mean it requires a HDMI 2.1 interface for the signal or is it still in 40 Gbps region? As I understand, current TB4 /USB-C Mac ports cap speed is 40 Gbps.
The tablet uses either USB-C with DisplayPort Alternate Mode or HDMI 2.1 as input. DP Alt Mode 2.0 which is a "4 lane mode" has the bandwidth of 80 Gbps, just like DP 2.0 and USB4. Number of lanes refers to physical lanes in the cable, but as I understand a regular DP port in current Macs won't support that.. So I gather there currently is NO Mac that can support a UHD 10bit 120 Hz display?

That would mean current Macs support Displayport 1.4 but I can't find ANY information regarding that on Apple site anywhere. The tech spec states "Displayport" support, no version. What the **** apple..
It's irritating Apple has this facade of still being also for pros while you can't even find a REAL, detailed tech spec for their products... They no longer are for pros. Only for normal consumers willing to pay extra for the aesthetics.. sigh

Yes, USB4 has DP 1.4 and requires DP alternate mode so you can assume any of those ports supports it.

Ok cool, thanks. I'll probably double check with wacom just in case but this is good news
